Chapter 2: A rude awaking, A confused past.

Yume awoke on a bed in a dark gloomy room. His head hurt like crazy. Yume tried to get up but then someone pushed him back down. "Don't try to get up Yume, you could hurt yourself." Yume could not see who it was, but by the sounds of it, it was a boy. "Where am I?" Yume's words were scattered all over the place, his eyes still trying to focus to the darkness. "You are at Lord Varon’s castle, located in the deep forest of Varonkarma." The boy said, taking off the towel that was placed on Yume's head and rinsed it out.

"My name is Seth, that’s if you don't remember me." Seth smiled at Yume. Once Yume's eyes were adjusted he saw the boy. He looked like he was seventeen with pink and purple hair. His hair was long, very long. It reached the floor and was tied in a pony-tail; however it was like a long tube. He was wearing a fish-net top and black skinny pants, with big black combat boots and spiked bracelets. Having a girly figure to top it all off.

Yume still looked at the boy confused. "I guess you don't remember me." Seth sighed. "What do you mean remember you? I don't even know you." Yume said quietly. Seth pouted, "Keith! He does not remember!" At that moment a guy looking twenty kicked the door down, literally. He had shoulder length red and blue hair, built like a tank, wore camo pants, combat boots also. Was wearing a tight dark green tank top. The guy named Keith walked over and looked Yume hard in the eyes. "You really do not remember us?" His voice was hard and stern, bit like a relaxed sergeant. Yume sort of attempted to wiggle back. "Keith don't intimidate Yume, he just woke up." Keith backed away, exhaling. "Sorry Babe." Seth blushed a little but looked back at Yume.

"Where did you go all those years ago?" Seth cocked his head to the left. Yume was confused, "I was at Magic of Lute Academy." Seth closed a fist and hit his palm. "The one place we did not check. You were lucky Lord Varon found you before anyone else did after leaving the academy. Something could have happened to you." Yume felt anger come up. "I did not want to leave! I was safe and happy! Just because I could not cast one spell I was kicked out! I had to leave Sakura and....him..." Yume laid back down and curled up in a ball. "Leave me alone..." Seth was about to say something but Keith put a finger over his lips and held him by the hand, leading him out of the room, leaving Yume to sleep.

Lord Varon looked up as Seth and Keith entered the room. "Aha, there you two are. How is Yume doing? His memory back yet?" Seth shook his head. "He does not remember, also he is very upset. It seemed he did not want to leave the academy. He said he was happy there. He should of never removed his ability to cast the spells if he was happy!" Lord Varon rolled his eyes and Keith grabbed Seth's shoulders to calm him down. "I did it because I knew he was there Seth." Lord Varon calmly said, taking a sip of a red substance from a wine glass. "But we had no right to take him away from somewhere he was happy." Seth was getting tears formed in his eyes. "Shh, shh Seth, calm down a tad." Keith whispered into Seth's ear, patting his hair slowly.

Lord Varon looked at Seth. "Did you not want him back though Seth?" Raising an eyebrow. Seth looked down at his feet, mumbling something along the lines of 'yeah but...' Lord Varon held up his hand. "Just relax. I will unlock his powers shortly, you two work on bring back his memory. He needs him to remember all the training before the end of the month, before the war starts out. Seth and Keith bowed low. "Yes Master Varon of Varonkama forest." They both left the room, Keith holding Seth.

Seth pushed the door to their room open. "Gash damn it! I hate him so much!" Seth barged over to the large bed and sat down on the soft quilt. "Calm down Seth." Keith walked over to the boy, putting his arms around him and embracing him in a tight loving hug. "Just relax and be glad Yume is back with whom he belongs with. His own kind." Seth rested his head on Keith’s chest, putting his arms around him also. "I guess you are right there Keith." Seth looked up at Keith. Keith smiled and leaned in and kissed Seth softly on the lips.

Yume was tossing and turning in the bed, trying to get back to sleep. He hoped all of this was a dream and that he is having a hard time waking up. However deep down he knew it was no dream. He was kicked out from his home and far away from his friends. On top of that he was now in a place that everyone knew his name and always asked 'do you remember?' Yume sat up, giving up on sleep. He lent back against the wall. It was hard and rocky. At least something here reminded him of home. Yume could not bottle it in any longer. He started to burst into tears, crying loudly.

A girl, with short brown hair heard a noise from one of the chambers. She peeked through to see Yume sitting up against the wall, crying loudly. She gasped and ran off to the dining room. Seth and Keith were sitting next to each other, eating slowly. Seth's thoughts kept on going over to Yume. "Seth, just relax. Yume will be fine." Keith whispered in Seth's ear. At that moment the girl barged through the door. "Oh my god! Everyone! Yume is back!" Everyone's heads shot up. "He is in his chambers!" Few people were about to get up when Keith jumped up and banged the table.

"Everyone quiet! Torn!" Keith glared at the girl that barged in. "I am warning you not to go to Yume. That goes for the lot of you!" Keith's voice boomed through the room. "Lord Varon, Seth and I are the only ones that can see Yume at this time." Torn put her hands on her hips. "Who died and made you king?" Keith spat at Torn’s direction. "Yume does not know a thing. We are all strangers to him. So it is best if not one of you lot to go see him. It will freak him out a lot more." Keith had a stern look in his eyes which made people sit back down quietly. Seth sat there, slowly eating his food.

Torn glared daggers at Keith, going for the violin on her back. "Torn...now is no time to fight..." She spun around fast to see Lord Varon and Bakara. "Sorry my Lord." She bowed down and took her seat at the table. Lord Varon walked swiftly to his seat near Keith, Seth and the empty spot next to Seth. "How is progress going my children?" Keith snorted. "Don't call me your child; it makes me sound as if my lover was my brother." Lord Varon sat up straight, clearing his throat. "You did not answer my question." Keith rolled his eyes and was about to speak when Seth cut in with a quiet voice.

"There has been no change...he is still the same as before...If you will excuse me..." Seth got up from his seat and walked slowly to the door, leaving the large room. "Poor, poor Seth. Learnt to find out his younger brother does not even recognize him..." Lord Varon sang quietly. Bakara laughing. "Shut your mouth...Master. Leave Seth alone. It is hard enough as it is." Keith pushed back away from the table and went after Seth. "Such ingnorent boys...the three of them."

Seth walked up to the door of Yume's room and knocked on it softly. A weak soft cry answered. "Come in..." Seth gulped a little and pushed the door open. "Yume...Are you ok?" Seth eyes were full of tears and concern. Yume had his head in his lap and shook his head. "Of course I am not ok! I have been taken somewhere against my own will...Also that everyone knows my name but I know not one of all of you." Yume started to cry softly. "Yume..." Seth sighed and walked over to his younger brother.

"Tell me...do you know anything about before you were ten years old?" Yume's head shook fast. Seth smiled and exhaled. "You see this was your home...before you and Lord Varon had another fight. You did not want to get changed at the age of te-" Yume's head shot up. "What do you mean by changed?" Seth bit his lip, a sharp pointed tip of a tooth showed. "Changed into a vampire..." Yume's eye went wide and he curled up. "Let me finish Yume. Freak out after not now."

Seth took in another deep breath. "Well after that fight you stormed out of the castle and into the woods, were you got attacked by a bear. You healed fast and ran for town. Lord Varon removed your power after that. You had already forgotten your past. Your healing ability is what we all have. However you vanished from then on. I thought I lost you." Seth had tears building up in his eyes. "Why do you care and know so much about me?" Yume looked at Seth with a confused stern look.

"Because...you are my younger brother. By a lot of years. I may look seventeen but I am really one hundred and four years old. Keith is five hundred. You are my younger brother because mother got with a human again just like her and had another child. She may be human but she is immortal and looks not a day over twenty one."

Yume was confused still. Was he saying this boy here was his older brother? Who was One Hundred and Four years old! Seth smiled. "I don't have all the details. Keith knows a lot. He works close with Lord Varon." Seth shivered. Yume looked at Seth with question filled eyes. "Seth...What did you mean by powers?" Seth grinned. "Glad you asked. You see every vampire that is bitten by Lord Varon was involved with one instrument and could cast spells with it. Lord Varon brings out that persons full potential. Keith is drums, Torn is violin, Lord Varon is harp and you are lute."

Seth smiled and Yume's jaw dropped. "I’m the lute? But...but I could not cast one spell at Magic of Lute Academy!" Seth grinned. "Remember I said Lord Varon removed your powers." Yume ran his hand through his white locks with blood stains in them. "I could have stayed if Lord Varon never removed my powers...I could have stayed with him..." Yume's thoughts trailed off to the silver haired boy. Seth blinked a little and started to click his fingers in front of Yume's face.

"Hellllooo! Earth to Yume!" Seth pouted at Yume when he did not look at him. Yume’s head drifted off to his feet as he sat on the bed thinking of Sen. Seth exhaled. “Look Yume. I know you may not be happy here now and that you are now away from your friends back at that academy but you are home now. Does that not make you happy?” Seth smiled and Yume just looked away from Seth. “Fine, I give up for now. I will leave you to sulk in your room. Why don’t you practice the lute? Your lute is in that closet over there.”

Seth smiled and pointed to the large closet at the other end of the room. “Well, talk to you later.” Seth got up and waved, walking over to the door. He looked back at Yume who was still looking distant from everyone. Sighing Seth left the room to the boy and his own thoughts. ‘Why don’t I remember them? Why do they know me but I don’t know them? If only Sen was here…’

Yume got up and walked over to the closet, taking a look at what it contained. He found some large photo polios and a lute. It was well designed with a golden edge frame and made of light, pure white marble. The strings were made of pure silver wire. “A work of art.” Yume grabbed the lute and the photos, walking back to his bed. He opened the book to take a look at the photos. ‘There must be a lot if the book is this heavy.’ Yume looked through the photos, seeing a younger version of him around the same ages Seth as he was just talking to.

“Well he did say he was one hundred and four years old…” Yume looked through all the photos, trying to remember any little piece of information in the photos he could get. He exhaled, putting the large book down and picked up the lute. He started to play the tone Sen had taught him the first day they met. Yume had practiced it every day and night, any chance he could get when Sen was not around to hear him play. Sen was always the only one that could make Yume stuff up when he was around. The reason for that is because he was worried about stuffing up halfway through playing the song.

Keith was standing at the door, listening to Yume play the lute. He exhaled and walked down the hall. Keith walked up the stairs to head straight to the head room of the castle, Lord Varon’s room. Keith knocked on the door three times and entered the room. “Lord Varon. I beg of you, send Yume back to Magic of Lute Academy!” Lord Varon laughed. “Even if I was to let him, he would never get back in; he will have nowhere to go. He was kicked out because he could not cast the spell, remember?”

Keith snorted and spat at Lord Varon’s feet. “It is your entire fault. If you never removed his powers he would still be happy.” Lord Varon grinned at Keith’s anger. “But Seth was upset all those years because of it, all that time spent looking for him. You do not want him to lose his little brother again do you?”

Keith growled, “Of course not, just it was not fair of you to ruin one’s life. You do know he is never allowed to speak to his humans friends ever again now you know!” Lord Varon nodded slowly. “Yes, yes. However we are going to war to the humans and last time I checked, Magic of Lute Academy was going to fight us so I did not want brother against brother.” Keith spat at Lord Varon again and hit his shoes. “I am your oldest ‘child’. I have never shown you no respect till now and your decisions.” Keith turned around and stormed out of the room.

Bakara stood in Keith’s way, trying to block his path from leaving. Keith spat at his face and continued on walking to go back to his room to see Seth. Bakara was wiping the spit off his face as he walked up to his ‘master’. “What are we going to do about that one master? You can’t remove his powers, he is far too strong.” Lord Varon raised a hand, hushing Bakara. “Don’t worry I have a plan for Keith…including Seth, Yume and Yume’s human friends.” Lord Varon and Bakara started to laugh loudly.

Unknown Title: Chapter One

All characters are copyright under my pen Shun.

Chapter One: The last day of old, the first day of new.

"Wake up boy!" A large built man in armor kicked a boy lying on the ground asleep. "Time to get up!" The man kicked the boy again. When the foot collided with the boy he groaned, getting up slowly, and white locks of hair fell in front of his eyes. The man kicked him again. "Get up faster next time, and then maybe I won’t have to kick to so much!" The boy winched at the loud booming voice of the man. He never did well with noise once he woke up. He got up and dusted himself down. "Go to the grounds, everyone is waiting!" The man left the room, slamming the door behind him. The boy swore at him as he left.

He picked up a shirt and put it on over his soft pale white skin. The shirt was tatted and old, his pants the same. As for his shoes, he wore none. He picked up an old damaged lute and put it on his back, leaving the room. He headed along the cold stone path that headed for the grounds. He yawned as he walked on. The lute on his back bouncing around on his back, his bangs falling in front of his eyes again and again. He took a turn and headed outside.

"Look who showed up! Little Dream-Boy." Another boy called out, built but not as much as the other man from before. He had silver hair that just got to his shoulders with matching grey eyes. "Can it Sen, and its Yume." The boy called back, walking up to him. Sen snorted and turned around, facing a fairly old man. "Nice of you to join us Yume. Maybe next time you can wake up on time and we will not have to send Brute. Anyway time for today’s lesson." The old man turned away walking, beckoning for the children to follow him. "I heard you last night again Yume. Still trying to cast a basic lute spell?" A girl smiled at him. Her long pink and red hair, reaching half way down her back. She had bright blue eyes and had a good figure.

"Yeah..." Yume was drifting off, looking at his feet. The girl sighed and turned her attention to Sen. "What is wrong with him? I am getting worried." He said quietly so that Yume could not hear. "You worry too much Sakura, get over it. Focus on other things or people. Like me." He grinned and she groaned, turning to her female friends, her long black hair flicking and hitting Sen in the face. He smiled a little, turning his attention to Yume. "She is so hot, I think she digs you." He said, nudging Yume's arm. "Yeah...digs..." Sen rolled his eyes.

"Don't go bettin' yourself up about not being able to cast a basic lute spell. Just 'cause you are the only one yet to cast it does not mean you should get all gloomy over it." Sen grinned, giving Yume thumbs up. Yume looked at him with his dull grey eyes. "All night for the past two weeks I have been up trying to cast it. Two weeks! For everyone else to cast it, it had taken them two days. You were able to cast it...And you don't pay attention in class!" Yume growled a little. "OK just calm down Dreamer-Boy." Sen placed his hands on Yume's shoulders. "Calm down."

"Is there a problem boys?" The old man called back to them. Sen turned around, "No Sora-Sensei. Just the same as always. Yume getting worked over not being able to cast the spell." Sen grinned a little and Yume growled again. "Is that so? How long has it been now? Two weeks? Yume if you can't cast it by dinner you will be removed from the course and the school." Yume's eyes shot open. "You were lucky we took you in without training and having to pay because you had nowhere to go. However if you can’t even cast a basic attacking spell, how are you going to do in the other areas? You may be the top in theory and playing the lute. However Spells are more important. So you have till the sun goes down. So I will dismiss you now so you can try."

Yume's eyes were wide. He nodded quickly and sharp, his bangs falling into his eyes again. He turned around and headed straight to his room. Sen looked at Sora-Sensei. "You don't really mean that do you?" Sora-Sensei nodded. "Yes I do mean it, if he does not cast it, even if it’s only once; he is to leave Magic of Lute Academy. Sakura over heard and her eyes went wide also, Sen still confused.

Yume grabbed out his books, pulling out his lute. He opened the page to the basic attacking spell of Lute. He read the page again and again, letting it sink into his head. He exhaled and pushed the book aside, bringing up his lute to his own attack stance. He faced the dummy in his room and focused thinking of only the magic flowing through him. He plucked the string and pushed his arm forward, straight to the dummy. A wind picked up a little up died down shortly after. Nothing had happened. He growled and tried again and again. Not knowing his two friends at his room window watching.

"Poor Yume. He is going to get kicked out." Sakura had tears building up. "So unfair!" Sen grunted, waving his hand "It isn’t his fault he can’t cast the spell." They continued to watch Yume through the window, hard at work.

"I can’t do it!" He threw the lute at the wall, crouching down. His ran his fingers through his hair, his fingers bleeding from plucking the string over and over, blood coating his pure white locks of hair. There was five minutes till the sun was down. He looked at his now destroyed lute. He got up and kicked the lute. "Useless, the both of us." He walked over to find a bag and gather his things now. No point in waiting to do it after Sora-Sensei tells him to leave.

Sora-Sensei walked to the door of Yume's room, looking at the boy sitting in the middle of the room on his bag. The old man’s eyes wondered around the room, seeing the destroyed lute. "Hmm...I take it you could not cast it young one?" Yume glared at the man. "You think I would have been sitting here waiting for you to kick me out if I had?" Sora-Sensei chuckled. "I see...Well Yume, time for you to leave." Yume got up picking up his things when Sakura pushed past Sora-sensei, crying. "Don't leave! You don't have to!" Sen was standing next to Sora-Sensei. "Yes he must Sakura, he could not cast the spell so he has no point here." Sora-Sensei said calmly. Yume started to walk out of the door. "See you guys."

Sen grabbed Yume's arm. "Be careful out there..." Yume looked up at him, slightly red faced, tears forming in his eyes and he ran. Yume ran as fast as he could, trying to get away from his only two friends he had ever had. Yume had always tried to act tough but he was never tough. He was soft and weak in some ways. He ran past all the other students going to the hall. They all stared at him as he ran for the entrance of the school. Once he was out he started to walk slower, not wanting to look back. He walked through the path of dead trees and plants on the dirt road.

Yume had been at that school for six years. Since that rainy day he had never been as happy, but now he had been kicked out, an out-cast. Just because he could not preform a basic lute spell. Shaking the thought out of his head he came to the end of the road. Sighing he took a right and continued down the path he did not go down when he first appeared. Yume was rubbing the tears out of his eyes, people staring at him as he walked down the road. They did not try to talk to him because of his clothing. Tattered shirt and pants, no shoes. You would think he was a tramp. He looked around to see where he was going and just one look he knew where he was. The dark side of the town. All the gangs, mobs, night bars etc, were there. He felt uneasy but it was the only way to get out of the town.

He walked through the streets, weaving around people, trying not to touch or bump into anyone. He held his bag close to him. He may have been the age of sixteen but he never did well on his own. He took a short-cut through an ally, being as quick as possible. As he walked down the alley, he noticed someone stopped and turned, blocking the entrance. He turned around to go back the way he came. The same thing happened. He gulped a little as the men started to walk down the alley, towards him. Yume could not run, his feet were stuck in the one place. They came closer and closer. When they were closer enough they grabbed Yume and pushed him up against the wall.

"Now look what we have here master, A young teen." One of the males called softly. He was balding and had a beer-gut and had a mole above the corner of his mouth. The other male came in closer and smelt Yume. He had long black hair, dark green eyes and was wearing a black outfit. His build was slim and lean. Also having a crocked smile. "Smells fresh, must be a new stray." The bald one looked at the other male.

"What do we do with him master?" The other male grinned a creepy grin. "Just wait a little Bakara, let him go." The one named Bakara let go of Yume and he fell to the ground. The other male picked up Yume. "Tell me boy, what are you doing around these parts of town? You do know it’s unsafe do you not?" Yume's eyes went wide. He saw that the other male had fangs. Was this man a vampire? "Answer me boy." The man said firmly, shacking Yume a bit. "You best answer him." Bakara whispered.

Yume was shaking, trying to force the words out. "I-I-I'm t-t-trying to get t-t-to another t-t-town. I know i-i-it’s not safe." Bakara laughed at Yume. "So you should be afraid, this man is Lord Varon!" Lord Varon smiled. "You flatter me Bakara. I will be sure to tell the slaves to make you something extra good tonight." Bakara bowed deeply. "Thank you master."

Lord Varon then turned his attention back to Yume. "Why are you not inside at home eating? It is always best to go out on a full stomach and during the day when it is more...safe." Lord Varon grinned, showing his teeth more. His fangs seemed to be growing larger slowly. "Why don't you come with me?" Yume's eyes went wide, he started to shake like crazy and he screamed, pushing Lord Varon back, making him let go of Yume. Yume pushed passed Bakara whom tried to grab Yume.

Yume ran fast through the ally, trying to reach the other side and out before they catch up. "Well that was interesting, someone trying to get away. Don't you agree Bakara?" Yume looked to one side to see Lord Varon flying in a way next to him. "Oh yes master." Bakara was on the other side of Yume. Yume stopped and tried to turn back around Bakara grabbed him. "Don't worry Yume, you will be home soon. Your friends are waiting."

Yume's eyes shot open. How did they know his name? What did this freak Bakara mean? Yume looked up at Lord Varon, confused who just smiled. "Come now, don't you recognize me?" Yume stood there, confused still, trying to get out of the hands of Bakara. "Don't worry Yume; it will only hurt a bit." Lord Varon lent down and started to drain the blood Yume had. Yume was kicking and screaming, tears were falling down his face. Before he knew it, Yume had passed out.

Introduction: Before the Start

"What is going on? Where am I? What on earth is happening?" A young boy was running through the streets, covering his head from the rain in the middle of the night. "Damn it, I need to find somewhere to stay." He turned corners fast, hardly looking where he was going. All that mattered to him was finding somewhere to shelter for the night. He stopped and looked around a little; few of his white bangs fell in front of his eyes. As he moved them away he spotted a light in one of the buildings. Smiling slightly he headed to the light, it was on the other side of the village, but he could manage. "I hope they would not mind me coming in." He found the path that lead to the building. It was a path full of trees and other plants. Most were dead, but all bunched together. Shrugging the boy headed through the path. Not knowing what could lie ahead.

The young child pushed on forward, heading deeper and deeper into the woods. The path slowly started to open up, to a large wall with a huge door and few windows to the other side. The child walked over to one of the windows and tried to look in, jumping up to try and see. However the windows were too high. He looked around and walked over to the door, knocking as hard as he can. After that he just sat on the dirt, waiting. The door slowly opened and there stood an old man, standing with another boy slightly older then the child himself, holding an umbrella over the man.

“State your business.” The child on the ground looked at the man shocked. I don’t know where I am.” The child sniffed a little, tears forming in his eyes. “Where is your family? Are they not looking for you?” The boy looked blankly at the old man. “I don’t remember…I don’t know if I had a family…” The child then started to cry. The other child dropped the umbrella and rushing over to him, comforting him. The old man walked over, kneeling. “What is your name little one?” The little boy looked up at the old man, sniffing slightly. “It’s Yume. Yume Hightail.”
